Di Zhao Flutes was founded in 2006 with the goal of producing the world’s finest student flutes. After two decades in the music industry, Di Zhao saw a need to improve both the quality of student models and make them easily accessible to young musicians around the world.
By combining the craftsmanship and tradition of Boston’s finest flute makers with the modern day production techniques of the world’s leading instrument factories, Di Zhao flutes developed our now- renowned “handmade” student flutes. These instruments have helped fulfill the musical ambitions and nurture the passions of thousands of young flutists around the world.
The flutes are all padded with Pisoni pads, and all pads are partially shimmed like professional flutes. All instruments are made to achieve smooth key action, fast response, and excellent resonance.
Di Zhao graduated from Wuhan Conservatory, after which he played in the Hunan Broadcast Orchestra, and later became principal flutist at the National Ensemble Orchestra of China in Beijing. Emigrating to the United States to pursue his Master’s Degree at Indiana University, Di attended West Iowa Technical College, the noted repair school.
