Changing the bell of a clarinet can make a considerable difference. The bell particularly affects the projection and the overtones.
The Buffet Crampon ICON bell, like many clarinets of Buffet Crampon, was developed in collaboration with a group of professional clarinet players. The bore of the bell is narrower at the center, resulting in a very centered sound.
The ICON bell has no metal ring on the bottom. This as well as the slim design, makes the Icon bell up to 30% lighter than a traditional Buffet Crampon clarinet bells. The design without metal ring also benefits the projection and air flow.
