Selmer ended production of their most famous instrument, the Mark VI, in 1974. From that year until 1981 the new model was called (perhaps logically) the Mark VII. The changes that Selmer brought to this instrument, combined with the love that many players had for the Mark VI, doomed this new model to be considered (unfairly) as inferior.
Time goes by and tastes change and the Selmer Mark VII has enjoyed an increased popularity in the last 10 or so years. What is indisputable is that the price of the Selmer Mark VII compares very favorably with that of the Mark VI.
An early Mark VII, this beauty, built in 1977, offers a lot of Selmer quality for half the price of its more famous cousin. It is a very vibrant instrument which stacks up quite well to anything Selmer has ever produced.
