The Altus AS-907-ERB flute with B-foot, split E-mechanism and Britannia silver (95.8%!) headjoint is a popular flute for the advanced player.

This flute from the Altus Artist Series has a headjoint made out of Britannia silver, which has a higher purity (.958) than the more common sterling silver (.925). This lends the 907 richer harmonics and, thus, expands the musician’s range of tonal expression. The body and footjoint are made of nickel silver (an alloy of copper, nickel and zinc), which is very durable and allows the Altus 907 ERB to be attractively priced. Nevertheless, the 907 is like all Altus flutes completely handmade and the mechanism and technical aspects are produced with the same care and attention to detail as the higher positioned Altus flutes.

The Altus 907 is available with a S-cut or a Z-cut head joint. The S-cut head joint is renowned for producing the trademark Altus sound, and provides vibrant warmth with excellent projection. Its pure tonal center allows the artist great flexibility with an infinite color palette. The Z-cut head joint, with a more rectangular embouchure hole with minimal over and undercutting, produces a quick response without sacrificing flexibility or control. The sound is open and free with a darker tonal color.
